Artist Profile
Noa Nishizawa was born in Ibaraki Japan in February 2001. She started learning piano at age of 6.
When she was in primary school, she played accompaniment in the school’s music festivals. Also, she spent last three years of her primary school at the school’s chorale club.
In secondary school, she started playing the euphonium at the school wind band. During the secondary school, she had experienced in being a conductor, an accompanist, and a dupty director of the wind band. She decided to study music in age of 12, then she has studied piano with Yoko Fujino and Mitsuho Watanabe, she had studied euphonium with Satoshi Ohyama.
Then she entered Toho Daini Senior High School as a music student. She had studied euphonium with Aya Tsurusawa. Also, she had studied piano with Hironori Nakajima for three years. In the high school, she performed in a lot of concerts as a student representative and participated several solo competitions on piano and euphonium. She won the 6th place in the one of the Japanese national competitions. Also, she had joined Toho Daini Senior High School Wind Orchestra and Tsukuba Science City Wind Orchestra as a euphonium player and a harpist.
When she graduated from high school, she graduated first on the list, performed as a representative at the graduation ceremony, and won the Japan Private Junior High School and High School Association President's Award. After that, she spent a year and half at Toho College of Music as a music student. During those years, she had studied euphonium with Dr. Mitsuru Saito. Also, she had studied piano with Ritsuko Kobayashi. She had joined Toho college of Music Wind Orchestra as a euphonium player.
In September 2020, she entered Royal Northern College of Music. She is currently studying euphonium under Professor. Steven Mead. Also, she is playing euphonium with Elland Silver Band, championship section band in yorkshire. Currently she is the only one Japanese playing with the brass band in the UK. She is also holding two YouTube channel called “Noa Euphonium” and “Bandsman life in UK”. She also hosts the weekly podcasts “Bandsman’s Radio” for promoting brass band culture to Japanese people. On the other hand, she is in many chamber groups such as Spinnen Quartet, Japanese Winds in Manchester, Bioline Duo and Nut Tail. Outside of music, she is currently working as a professor of Japanese calligraphy.
